Under the label

SURPRISE !

The magnet cover has been painted in gold, but it doesn't match at all the genuine gold colour of the original magnet cover below.
A 'Monitor gold LSU/HF/15/8' label has been printed and glued over the original label, very likely an HPD label. I don't dare removing it I don't want to destroy such a beautiful camouflage.

Tannoy gold monitor or HPD ?

Tannoy Gold Monitor LSU HF 15/8 or HPD ?

I am trying to determine if the following speaker is a LSU LF 15/8 or a HPD :

Serial number (500558 -> http://paulsaudio.tripod.com/SerialNumbers.htm), chassis gold paint and stamp date on the chassis (12 NOV 1976) make me believe it's an HPD.

However, the speak comes with a 'Tannoy gold monitor LSU/HF/8' magnet cover and the surround looks to me more like one of a gold monitor (http://44bx.com/tannoy/gold.html).

And the seller insists it's a LSU LF 15/8 taken from GRF Corners, not an HPD.

Any help really appreciated !

a gold painted magnet cover (not plastic like HPD)

but chassis is gold finished (I'd expect a matt-gray color for a LSU chassis)

stamp date : 12 NOV 1976 (90% sure it's a 6 and not a 4)

Serial number : 500558

surround looks more like "a low-frequency driver surround that is corrugated fibre, treated with plasticizer" (LSU HF 15/8 : http://44bx.com/tannoy/gold.html)
than like "a low-frequency driver surround that is a roll-surround made from plastic-foam" (HPD : http://www.44bx.com/tannoy/hpd.html#anchor2238478)
